Talks and live events

I love bringing science to life on stage – whether that’s chairing panels, giving talks, or literally blowing things up during live science shows.

On stage at The Royal Institution

Panel discussions

I aim to create a warm and engaging atmosphere when chairing panels for radio, TV, and festivals.

Chatting about the new podcast series Sherlock & Co at the Radio Academy Festival.
Debating the impacts of the new malaria vaccine in Malawi for BBC World Service.
Discussing the science of Bulgarian yogurt at Sofia Science Festival.

Talks

I give talks on my career and different areas of science. Sometimes I’m given free reign and discuss one of my favourite topics, other times I’m asked to speak about something specific and I get to delve into the subject and learn something new. While to topics I cover are diverse, the colours I wear are not.

How I became a science journalist at New Scientist Live.
Speech day keynote speaker at St. Catherine’s School.
The science behind relaxation and music at Crossed Wires Festival.

Live science experiments

Throughout my presenting career, I have performed science experiments on stage to a range of audiences. My favourite demos include making a “poo” to explain how digestion works, builing a barometer using a flight of stairs, and setting fire to butane to demonstrate climate change.

Clients

I’ve brought science to the stage with many different clients, including: Google, the Royal Institution, Gastronaut and the BBC.
